And, now, introducing…

Return Mollie Kiel, age 14, from Morristown, NJ, USA was a new camper at Appel Farm last year, and is returning for Mini-Session II this summer!

  • What are your favorite Majors or Minors? Hip-Hop Dance, Jazz Dance, and Ceramics
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? All of the people
  • What is one thing your camp friends don’t know about you? Every time I get a report card without a “C” on it, I get a whole cake to myself.
  • What is something that you are proud you’ve done this year since camp? I switched dance studios.

Return Camper Jenna Belabed, age 11, from New York, NY, USA was a new camper at Appel Farm last year, and is returning for Mini-Session II this summer!

  • What are your favorite Majors or Minors? I loved Ceramics and Horseback Riding.
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? It’s crazy how friendly everyone is! You can sit at any table and it is normal!
  • What is one thing your camp friends don’t know about you?I love anime!!!
  • What is something that you are proud you’ve done this year since camp? I have been more independent.

Return Staff Member Jack Kavanaugh from Buffalo, NY, US, has a Bachelors degree from Goucher College, and half of a Masters in Social Work from the University at Buffalo. Jack is returning to Appel Farm for his 8th summer! He was a camper for 4 years, and this will be his 4th summer on staff.

  • What is your role at camp this summer? Bunk Specialist and Assistant Head of Technical Theater
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? It is one of the only places where everyone can be who they really are.
  • What is one thing you are excited about doing at camp? Making sure free time is as fun as it can possibly be!!
  • What is one thing campers don’t know about you? I spent three months driving cross-country by myself and have been to 38 states.
  • What is something interesting that you do when you are not at camp? Help coordinate volunteers from the UB School of Social Work to host a bingo night at a nursing home every other Thursday!!
  • What are three things you are passionate about? Social justice, summer camps, the Queen City – Buffalo, NY!!!

Staff Member David Hayes from Widnes, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom, is studying Film and Media Studies at Liverpool Hope University. This will be David’s first summer at Appel Farm.

  • What is your role at camp this summer? Video Instructor and Bunk Counselor
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? Being able to share my enthusiasm for films
  • What is one thing you are excited about doing at camp? Teaching and learning from the campers and staff
  • What is one thing campers don’t know about you?  I’m a massive rollercoaster fan! The higher and faster the better!
  • What is something interesting that you do when you are not at camp? I enjoy listening to music, keeping active and running!
  • What are three things you are passionate about? Films, creativity and keeping active!
