Alumna Kelly DiBenedetto from South Brunswick, NJ, USA, was a camper at Appel Farm in 2010 and 2011.

  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? Everything! There are too many things to just pick one.
  • What is one thing you learned at camp that you use in your life today? How to communicate and accept all.
  • How are the arts incorporated into your life now? I am a photographer for the athletic department at my college and I am a part of the Dance Company.

Alumna Gabryella Pulsinelli from Bordentown, NJ, USA, was a camper at Appel Farm in 2010.

  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? The people and the love felt around
  • What is one thing you learned at camp that you use in your life today? To accept people for who they are
  • How are the arts incorporated into your life now? I am studying studio art at the University of Rochester and I still study music in my spare time.

Staff Member April Gompers from Moorestown, NJ, US, is graduating from Berklee College of Music with a BM in Professional Music, and a minor in Performance Poetry.

  • What is your role at camp this summer? Voice Instructor and Bunk Counselor
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? The sense of community. There is a feeling of love and respect for everyone at the Farm that I have rarely seen anywhere else.
  • What is one thing you are excited about doing at camp? Extending my Appel Farm family and sharing my passion for music with all of you!
  • What is one thing campers don’t know about you? Campers may not know that I was also an Appel Farm camper when I was a teenager. I just couldn’t stay away!
  • What is something interesting that you do when you are not at camp? I’m a very avid reader. I’ve been on a dystopian fiction kick lately.
  • What are three things you are passionate about? Music, writing, and reading! I also appreciate Oxford Commas.

Staff Member Jason Henry Simon-Bierenbaum, raised in South Jersey near Philly, and living in Boston, MA, the US for 6 years now, has a degree in English, Creative Writing, and Theatre from Brandeis University, and is starting an MFA in poetry at UMB.

  • What is your role at camp this summer? Theater Instructor, Bunk Counselor, and Comical Supervillain with a bad Russian Accent
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? This is the place that taught me who I was, what I wanted to be, and how I want to live.
  • What is one thing you are excited about doing at camp? Hugging old friends and making new ones
  • What is one thing campers don’t know about you? I wrestled for all of the middle school and high school.
  • What is something interesting that you do when you are not at camp? I work as a teaching artist, doing everything from college poetry slam, to middle school wrestling, and more.
  • What are three things you are passionate about? Poetry. Comics. Vegetarian cooking.
