Alumna Amy Zipkin from Wynnewood, PA USA, was a camper at Appel Farm from 2000-06.

  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? Meeting new people and learning new things
  • What is one thing you learned at camp that you use in your life today? Be yourself.
  • How are the arts incorporated into your life now? I am getting my Masters in Early Childhood Education and I just took a class in how to teach Social Studies through the arts.

Return Camper Isabella Lancenese from Collegeville, PA, USA, has been a camper at Appel Farm for two years and is returning for Second Session this summer.

  • What are your favorite Majors or Minors? Hip-Hop Dance and Recording Arts
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? Spending time with friends
  • What is one thing your camp friends don’t know about you? I know the lyrics to MANY songs
  • What is something that you are proud you’ve done this year since camp? I learned really cool hip-hop moves from my teacher!

Staff Member Joy McMahon from Washington, DC, US, is pursuing a BFA in Photojournalism at Corcoran College of Art and Design.

  • What is your role at camp this summer? Documentarian
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? I haven’t been yet, but I’m sure I will have a lot of favorite things!
  • What is one thing you are excited about doing at camp? I am excited about getting to get to be part of some great childhood memories!
  • What is one thing campers don’t know about you? I know a lot about tea, and I can make a very good cup of any tea you want!
  • What is something interesting that you do when you are not at camp? I learn as much as I can about sea creatures, I am fascinated by them!
  • What are three things you are passionate about? I am passionate about photography, tea, and things that live underwater.

Staff Member Amanda Hinski, originally from Cherry Hill, NJ and currently in the Catskills of NY, USA, has a degree in Elementary Education and Writing Arts from Rowan University.

  • What is your role at camp this summer? Head of Coop and Ballet Instructor
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? I haven’t been there for almost 14 years (way back when I was a camper), but I always loved the sense of community at A.F.!
  • What is one thing you are excited about doing at camp? I’m excited to bond with campers and staff!
  • What is one thing campers don’t know about you? Probably everything!  However, I am trying to learn to play the ukulele (really badly)!
  • What is something interesting that you do when you are not at camp? Going on outdoor adventures!  I love to hike, bike, run, backpack, and camp.
  • What are three things you are passionate about? Playing and having fun (for ALL ages), the arts and creative development, and nature appreciation
