Alumna Amy Gaughran MacDougall from Holmdel, NJ, USA, was a camper at Appel Farm from 1987-1991.

  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? The feeling of freedom, love, creativity, and acceptance
  • What is one thing you learned at camp that you use in your life today? Confidence!
  • How are the arts incorporated into your life now? I am an art teacher, and a children’s book author, and a mom of 3!

Alumna Skylar Apter from Millstone Twp., NJ, USA, was a camper at Appel Farm from 2005-08, 8-Week Session for the first three years, and Second Session in 2008.

  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? The SUPER SUPPORTIVE learning environment! Everyone’s so respectful and helpful, you’re free to find and be your best self!
  • What is one thing you learned at camp that you use in your life today? I learned how to be creative & confident in my work and ability, and how to seek out & cooperate w/ other artistic individuals!
  • How are the arts incorporated into your life now? I moved to NYC for college (w/ camp friends!) & I’m studying Acting and Screenwriting. Looking to do Columbia Film School MFA!

Staff Member Nathan Hunter from Scotland is pursuing a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

  • What is your role at camp this summer? STeam Sports/Tennis Instructor, Lifeguard, Asst. Head of Sports & Swim, and Bunk Counselor
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? Friday Night Concerts
  • What is one thing you are excited about doing at camp? Evening Activities
  • What is one thing campers don’t know about you? I am a ski instructor.
  • What is something interesting that you do when you are not at camp? I teach skiing in Italy and Scotland.
  • What are three things you are passionate about? Sport, the outdoors and chocolate

Staff Member Jessica Bland from Syracuse, NY, USA, has a BA in Theatre, and BA in Philosophy from Wells College.

  • What is your role at camp this summer? Acting Instructor and Bunk Counselor
  • What is one of your favorite things about Appel Farm? I love how much freedom we have to try new things and interact with different people.
  • What is one thing you are excited about doing at camp? I can’t wait to try out some new ideas for workshops!
  • What is one thing campers don’t know about you? I have a pencil collection. It’s really neat! I have pencils from all around the world =)
  • What is something interesting that you do when you are not at camp? I do Model UN at the college level, which lets me meet people from different countries and engage in international politics.
  • What are three things you are passionate about? Besides theatre? Social justice (particularly education-related issues), Doctor Who, and tea ^_^
