Ever since we started taking hundreds of camp photos every day, and even before, back in the disposable camera days, and even before… Shiny happy campers holding hands have posed for the perfect camp photo

Give a child in your life the opportunity to make memories and friendships that last a lifetime; to explore their artistic passions and talents; to develop independence and learn to be a productive citizen; to experience a summer free from Snapchats, Instagram, and Facebook; to reconnect with nature; to be a kid again.
Evening Activities are a time when the entire camp comes together just to have fun! With activities that change every night, campers and staff can enjoy Scavenger Hunts, Bunk Activities, Campfires, Dances, Carnivals, Workshops, and Performances.
Calling all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends! Help a child you love attend camp this summer. Camp gift certificates make wonderful gifts for the creative kid in your life. These certificates can be purchased in any amount, and applied directly to a camper’s account.
We like to take every opportunity to have fun with our spare time! Sports and Swim also offer Lap Swimming before breakfast, Free-Swim times, Bunk Pool Parties, Yoga and Aerobic Classes, Organized games and tournaments, and an International v. the United States Soccer Match once a session.
Campers look like they’re having a lot of fun playing outdoors and learning new activities, but are they also learning life skills during just two weeks at a residential summer camp?” Dr. Thompson asked himself as he designed a study in 2014 investigating the impact of a two-week residential camp experience on children’s happiness and […]
Campers start by learning how their cameras work and how to load film. They study composition, subject, and lighting, and shoot photos using new knowledge of f-stops and shutter speed. Develop your film and make prints in one of two darkrooms on camp and participate in informal class critiques while learning the history of photography.
Time flies during camp (unless we’re all-in) and somehow we blink and we are clearing our cubbies, hugging our friends, and saying goodbye. That’s the moment we start dreaming of another summer at Appel Farm, counting down the days… But to what, exactly, are we counting down?
Appel Farm’s Dance Program is growing by leaps and bounds! We offer majors in Ballet, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Modern and Contemporary with differentiated instruction to meet the needs of beginning through advanced dancers.
Campers in the Visual Arts program choose a specific medium to study, learning and practicing new skills and techniques, and working on projects. Campers learn to work with a variety of artistic tools including a printing press, loom, pottery wheels, welding and glass torches, and electric, gas, and unique Noborigama wood-fired kilns.
The Music program at Appel Farm is ensemble based. Campers choose to study a specific instrument as a major or minor. Once you know which instrument you want to study, you choose how you want to study, and what kind of music you want to play!
Want to be onstage? Learn to act, sing, dance, write, and direct? To play a part in a hilarious comedy? A serious drama? The world premiere of a musical? Or maybe you’d like to learn stage combat, or improve your improv skills, or create original pieces to perform together? You can do all of this—and […]
So, our TBT blogs are usually filled with photos that make all of us remember our days at camp. Photos of rock shows, painting classes, campers throwing pots and taking photos, the carnival, campfires, bunks taking a tour on the first day of camp…
Join Appel Farm for National Day of Service! The Camp Team will be in both the Philadelphia area & NYC to work with camp families and friends to give back to the community. We’d love to see you there!
The holidays can be joyful, relaxing, and enjoyable as you gather up relatives from far and wide, but for young kids you can sometimes anticipate antsy-ness, stress, and sometimes downright irritable moods. This Wonder Wednesday, we offer some advice through a summer camp & psychological point of view to make the holidays a more enjoyable […]
Our community celebrates each and every camper for who they are, and who they want to be. We find what’s unique about each camper, and help them identify and develop their strengths, skills, and interests.
There’s a chance that we will hear it again this summer, but for sure we will hear something amazing because Rock Shows at Appel Farm are epic. We shared. We solo. We invite our friends to come close to the stage and rock out. We behave like rock stars but stop short of the antics […]
Start by lighting a tea light candle in a safe place. Take a toothpick and put 1-2 marshmallows on the toothpick (we soaked our toothpicks in water for a few hours before we made our s’mores so they wouldn’t catch on fire). Hold the marshmallows over the flame, like you would if you were roasting […]
This summer our goal was to “Ignite the Spark” of creativity, friendship, learning, and more for our campers, and as a result, they were wildly creative, explored new passions, dared to take risks, and forged new friendships. Now it’s time for you to share in this magic with Camp 2017 video footage. From Friday Night […]
