As spring begins, we welcome the budding trees and warmer temperatures — and also a super busy time at Appel Farm!
It’s this time of the year when I need art to keep me balanced, but seem to have little time to make it — so I was happy to stumble upon this project that is quick and very rewarding.
I found these ‘instant comfort boxes’ on Pinterest and thought they were such a great idea!
Instead of specific negative emotions, I wanted to make myself little reminders.
For a good laugh I decided to make this ‘PUG LYFE’ matchbox.
As a reminder to slow down and relax when things feel crazy, I made this “Don’t forget to smell the flowers” matchbox. I took this one a step further and sprayed my favorite floral perfume in the box so that I can actually take a sniff!
The materials for this project are cheap and easy to come by. I purchased 10 boxes of matches from the Dollar Tree for $1, used old magazines for the pictures on the inside, and scrap paper to cover the outside.
I love this project because it gave me a chance to be creative and feel good, but didn’t take up my entire evening. There are endless possibilities of what you can do with this project. You can paint, use markers, collage, doodle… whatever makes you happy!
I hope you feel motivated to make some mini art, we’d love to see what you come up with!
