Appel Farm Arts Camp Internship
Appel Farm can help you prepare for the world…Become a Camp Intern today!
What is the Camp Internship?
The Appel Farm Arts Camp Internship program is a training opportunity for young artists, who are too old to attend camp, but too young to be a part of our full Staff, to gain valuable leadership, counseling, and teaching skills. Interns gain an understanding of the many facets of working as a camp professional and teaching artist. This is a four-week, unpaid, residential internship.
Eligibility & Application
Must be 18-19 years old during the summer to apply. Priority is given to former Appel Farm campers and CITs. Those interested should complete the application below before March 16th. After participating in a phone interview, applicants will be notified by early April if they are chosen for the program, and required to attend an Intern Retreat at Appel Farm for training May 19-20, 2018 (optional if you were a CIT at Appel Farm).
Dates, Travel, Room & Board
Six Internship opportunities are available for both of Appel Farm’s four-week sessions (12 total). Applicants can indicate a preference, but selections will be determined as space is available. The First Session Internship is June 23 through July 21, 2018. The Second Session Internship is July 21 through August 18, 2018.
All Interns are required to live at Appel Farm for the duration of the four-week internship. Room and board are offered at a significantly discounted rate of $650 for non-Appel Farm alumni, $575 for former campers, and $500 for former CITs. A deposit of $100 is due June 1st with the balance due by the first day of the internship.
Limited funds are available for applicants needing financial assistance to cover room and board costs. If assistance is needed, please notify us during the interview process.
Transportation to and from the Philadelphia airport, bus station, or 30th St. train station will be provided at no cost. Interns can also drive to camp and have a car while living at camp.
This is an unpaid internship. Camp Interns will not be compensated financially for their work but will gain valuable experience working with children, teaching in the arts, and learning valuable leadership skills. Interns will have three days off within the four-week internship, along with various time off each day/evening.
If you have any questions, please call Natasha Thompson, Camp Program Coordinator, at 856-358-2472 ext. 120 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Senior Internship (Second-Year Interns)
A Senior Internship is available for those Interns participating in the program for a second year. The Senior Internship is a nine-week unpaid internship with no cost to the participant. Senior Interns arrive with the regular staff on June 17, 2018, participate in Staff Training and Orientation Week and work both camp sessions until August 20, 2018.
