Back to the Farm!
Appel Farm celebrates Earth Day this Sunday, April 21st, from 12 – 4pm!
This Sunday is our annual Appel Farm celebration of Earth Day. If you are a returning camper, a “new for 2013” camper or a prospective camper, please join us! Everyone is welcome at this fun afternoon at the farm!
Festivities start at noon on the back patio of the dining hall. We will have a live band performing (courtesy of Music Counselor extraordinaire Josh Frisch). At 1pm, we will be serving lunch and at 2pm, we will be leading a camp tour.
We have a fantastic organic garden here at Appel Farm. Our campers and staff help weed and harvest vegetables from our garden during the summer. Chef Irene uses these vegetables as ingredients in our nutritious camp meals. This Sunday, we will be planting our garden! Be prepared to get your hands dirty. We would love your help!
On Sunday, you can also make your own “Paper Planter”. We will be using recycled materials – branches and twigs, tin vegetable cans, and recycled paper to make these springy planters.
