What a fun Friday we had! There was so much going on at camp – it’s hard to capture it all in one post. Over at the Art Barn, the Wood Fire kiln is gearing up for it’s 24 hour firing, while 4-week shows are having costume fittings. Campers are using every ounce of their free time to get creative with friends outside the classroom as they work on acts for the Camper Counselor concert and collaborate on extra projects.
The best part of our Friday was our Friday Night Concert – there were so many incredible acts! We heard singers cover everything from showtunes (Rebecca singing from Catch Me if You Can, and Destiny singing from The Last 5 Years) to Pink Floyd (Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2). We heard original poetry from Violet, LeeAndrea , Mason, and Hayden. Jeremy composed an original piece on the piano to honor one of our incredible donors, Lucy, which moved the audience to tears.
Our audience tonight included Appel Farm Alumni and Board members who joined us for “An Evening with Friends of Appel Farm”, an event we hold twice each summer where we invite alumni and friends to join us for a short reception, followed by the Friday Night Concert they know and love. Everything we do at Appel Farm is made possible by the support of our incredible alumni, donors, board members, and friends – it is always a magical evening when we share this special time together during the summer.
We are looking to a full weekend of classes, and another night of performances on Sunday, with our Camper Counselor concert. Saturday night is our fabulous Dinner Dance – with so much going on at camp, the days are just flying by!
Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram! We shared clips from the Friday Night Concert on our Instagram story as the concert was happening, and they’ll be available for 24 hours if you have yet to check them out. If you’re not an Instagram user, have no fear – we record all of our concerts, and will be sending out more information after camp about how you can gain access to those videos. Here’s a quick clip from our Instagram story, featuring Sasha playing guitar and singing Brave!
